RNU6-1227P, also known as **RNA, U6 small nuclear 1227, pseudogene**, is a processed pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family[9][1][7][3][5]. It is not an actively transcribed gene encoding a functional protein or RNA; instead, it is a noncoding sequence derived from retrotransposed U6 snRNA, which lacks the necessary regulatory elements or sequence integrity to function as a small nuclear RNA[4]. U6 snRNA itself is a component of the spliceosome that plays a central role in pre-mRNA splicing; however, the pseudogene form such as RNU6-1227P does not have known biological function, has not been associated with diseases or drug response, and does not serve as a therapeutic target[9][4]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1227P are sometimes used as markers of retrotransposition activity in the genome, but have no direct clinical or pharmacological utility[4].
