Overview

RNU6-1228P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 1228, pseudogene) is an annotated human pseudogene located on chromosome 9 (9:75,198,071-75,198,177; GRCh38). It does not encode a functional small nuclear RNA, and pseudogenes of this family generally lack biological activity and are not considered drug targets, receptors, enzymes, or disease biomarkers in current databases. There is no evidence from gene catalogs or large-scale studies for involvement in human disease, drug interaction, or cellular function. RNU6-1228P is a non-functional genetic element; it mimics the sequence of U6 small nuclear RNA but does not produce a functional RNA or protein. Pseudogenes may have rare regulatory roles in some cases—such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs)—but there is no evidence that RNU6-1228P itself plays any such role. The molecular, cellular, and clinical significance is currently unreported and likely negligible for RNU6-1228P.
