Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1229, pseudogene (RNU6-1229P) is a processed pseudogene located on human chromosome 7 (cytogenetic band 7q11.21)[3]. As a member of the U6 small nuclear RNA pseudogene family, it originates from duplication and subsequent loss of function of a U6 snRNA gene. U6 snRNAs are essential non-coding RNAs involved in the spliceosome complex for pre-mRNA splicing, but pseudogenes like RNU6-1229P do not produce functional RNA molecules and lack known biological activity[2][3][11]. Pseudogenes may occasionally exert regulatory effects by acting as miRNA decoys or through other RNA-based mechanisms, but there is no evidence to date that RNU6-1229P has any such functional role[8][12]. This pseudogene is not a therapeutic target, not a known biomarker, and does not interact with drugs.

Biological functions

No known functional biological activity; marked as a pseudogene (see description)
03

Disease associations

No established role (as a pseudogene, RNU6-1229P has not been implicated directly in disease); pseudogenes in general may be involved in disease through regulatory mechanisms, but no evidence exists specifically for RNU6-1229P[8][12]
