Overview

RNU6-1265P is a pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family. The functional U6 snRNA is a critical non-coding RNA component of the spliceosome, which catalyzes the removal of introns from pre-messenger RNA (pre-mRNA) during the RNA splicing process. However, pseudogenes such as RNU6-1265P are genetic elements that arise by retrotransposition or genomic duplication events, leading to non-functional copies that do not contribute to spliceosome assembly or function. These U6 snRNA pseudogenes are widely present in vertebrate genomes and have no known biological or therapeutic function, serving instead as molecular fossils or markers of retrotransposon activity. They are not considered drug targets, nor do they have clinical, biomarker, or disease association roles.
