Overview

**RNA, U6 small nuclear 1275, pseudogene (RNU6-1275P)** is a human pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA family[1]. The canonical U6 small nuclear RNAs are essential components of the spliceosome complex, where they play a central catalytic role in pre-mRNA splicing, but RNU6-1275P is a pseudogene and does not produce a functional U6 snRNA[1][3][4]. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-1275P are typically non-functional gene copies generated by gene duplication or retrotransposition, and most do not encode functional products. Some pseudogenes may, in rare instances, have regulatory RNA functions (such as microRNA "sponging" or gene regulation at the RNA level), but there is no evidence that RNU6-1275P has any such function or relevance in disease, biomarker selection, or therapeutic targeting[2]. RNU6-1275P is not considered a therapeutic target and is not associated with any known safety or biomarker concerns[1].
