Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1277, pseudogene (RNU6-1277P) is a genomic DNA sequence that originated from the gene encoding U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), but has lost its ability to produce a functional snRNA due to accumulated mutations. U6 snRNAs are essential components of the spliceosome, the molecular complex responsible for removing introns from pre-mRNA during the process of RNA splicing[1][3]. However, pseudogenes like RNU6-1277P are byproducts of genome evolution, typically generated by retrotransposition events involving U6 snRNA genes[7]. These sequences do not encode a functional product or participate in splicing, serve no known biological function, and are not considered therapeutic targets, receptors, or enzymes[7]. There is currently no evidence linking RNU6-1277P to drug interactions, biomarker applications, or disease states.
