Overview

RNU6-1286P is a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family. U6 snRNAs are highly conserved non-coding RNAs that are key components of the spliceosome, catalyzing the removal of introns from pre-mRNA during RNA splicing[1][3]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-1286P is a non-functional sequence variant that resembles the parent U6 snRNA gene but has lost its protein-coding and catalytic activity due to mutations or genomic rearrangement[4][5][6]. Such pseudogenes may be present in multiple copies throughout the genome and can occasionally influence gene regulation through mechanisms such as acting as miRNA decoys, but there is no direct evidence of a functional or disease-associated role for RNU6-1286P specifically[4][5]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1286P are not considered therapeutic targets, and there are no drugs, mechanisms of action, or biomarker uses associated with them.
