Overview

RNU6-1318P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 1318, pseudogene) is classified as a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[1]. Pseudogenes are genomic sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional, often resulting from gene duplication or retrotransposition processes. Unlike functional U6 snRNA, which plays a critical role in the spliceosome as part of pre-mRNA splicing[2][4], pseudogenes like RNU6-1318P do not encode functional RNA products and have no known biological function or involvement in disease mechanisms[1][3]. There is no evidence that RNU6-1318P is a therapeutic target or has drug interactions. Pseudogenes can sometimes serve as markers of retrotransposition activity in the genome but are not considered active molecular targets for therapy or drug discovery[3].
