Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1323, pseudogene (RNU6-1323P) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene found in the human genome. It is derived from U6 small nuclear RNA, which plays a crucial role in splicing as part of the spliceosome, but as a pseudogene, RNU6-1323P does not produce a functional RNA product and is not believed to have biological activity. U6 snRNA pseudogenes, including RNU6-1323P, are multiply duplicated genomic elements mainly generated by retrotransposition (especially L1-mediated). They are considered part of the background “genomic fossil” record of small RNA evolution and retrotransposon activity, rather than functional genes. There is no evidence that RNU6-1323P is expressed or has a role in disease, molecular pathways, or therapeutics.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable (no drug targets or known molecular function)

03

Biological functions

None (as a pseudogene; the original U6 snRNA is involved in pre-mRNA splicing, but the pseudogene has no known biological function)
04

Disease associations

None establishedU6 snRNA pseudogenes are used as markers of retrotransposition activity but have no direct disease function
05

Safety considerations

None known or relevant
06

Interacting drugs

None known
07

Biomarkers

None (RNU6-1323P itself is not a biomarker; U6 pseudogenes generally are not used clinically, though U6 snRNA is sometimes a control in molecular assays)
