U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved non-coding RNA essential for the spliceosome complex, which catalyzes the removal of introns from pre-mRNA in eukaryotes[1][3]. However, the “RNU6-1337P” gene is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it arose through gene duplication or retrotransposition and has lost its original functional capacity—often due to sequence mutations or regulatory deficits that prevent proper expression or function[2]. As a member of the abundant snRNA pseudogenes in the genome, RNU6-1337P does not encode any functional product, does not participate in spliceosome assembly or catalysis, and has no recognized biological or disease-related function[2][4]. There are no known drug interactions, biomarker uses, or disease associations for this pseudogene.
