Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 143, pseudogene (RNU6-143P) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene found in humans.[1][2][6] It is classified as a pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family. U6 snRNAs are core components of the spliceosome that catalyze pre-mRNA splicing, but RNU6-143P itself is not a protein-coding gene and is not thought to produce functional RNA or protein product. Instead, it represents a non-functional copy of a U6 snRNA gene, likely generated by retrotransposition or similar genome-duplication events.[5] Although some pseudogenes can play regulatory roles or act as competitive endogenous RNAs, there are no data supporting such a function for RNU6-143P.[1][4][5] This gene is not a therapeutic target and is not known to be involved in any disease process, nor does it have direct drug interactions or biomarker use. Supporting details: - RNU6-143P is officially named "RNA, U6 small nuclear 143, pseudogene" by HGNC[6]. - It is a pseudogene (a non-functional genetic element) and does not encode a functional product[2][6]. - U6 snRNA pseudogenes, in general, can be markers of retrotransposition activity but are not recognized therapeutic targets nor have established physiological or regulatory functions unless otherwise indicated[5]. - There are no known roles in disease, no reported drug interactions, and it is not used as a biomarker[1][2][6].
