Overview

RNU6-152P, or RNA, U6 small nuclear 152, pseudogene, is a genomic DNA sequence that resembles the functional U6 small nuclear RNA gene but is classified as a pseudogene due to its lack of protein-coding capacity and function. Pseudogenes like RNU6-152P arise through duplication or retrotransposition and retain sequence homology to their parent genes but generally lose functional capacity because of mutations, truncations, or rearrangements. Although functional U6 snRNA is a core component of the spliceosome involved in pre-mRNA splicing, pseudogenes like RNU6-152P do not participate in these biological roles and are not considered viable molecular targets for drug action, disease biomarker development, or safety evaluation. These pseudogenes are common in vertebrate genomes and primarily serve as genomic relics or may occasionally act as non-coding RNA regulators, but there is no evidence for specific functional activity or therapeutic significance associated with RNU6-152P.
