It is homologous to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene, a non-coding RNA involved in RNA splicing as part of the spliceosome[1]. Copies and pseudogenes of U6 snRNA are common in vertebrate genomes, reflecting evolutionary backup and redundancy[1][5]. However, pseudogenes like RNU6-169P do not produce functional RNA or protein and thus are not targets for drugs or biotechnological intervention. They usually have no direct biological or clinical significance, except possibly for rare regulatory or evolutionary roles, which are not documented for RNU6-169P[5][2][1].
