U6 snRNA is a highly conserved non-coding RNA essential to the spliceosome, which catalyzes pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells[1][3][5]. However, RNU6-205P is specifically classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a nonfunctional genetic element that does not encode an active RNA or protein. Many U6-derived pseudogenes are present throughout vertebrate genomes, reflecting evolutionary retrotransposition events and not coding for active or functional molecules[6][7]. This pseudogene has no demonstrated biological function, is not considered a therapeutic target, and is not known to be associated with disease or utilized as a biomarker.
