Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 218, pseudogene (RNU6-218P) is a genomic sequence homologous to the functional U6 small nuclear RNA gene but is classified as a pseudogene. U6 snRNA itself is an essential noncoding RNA involved in pre-mRNA splicing as a core component of the spliceosome, but its pseudogenes such as RNU6-218P are generally non-functional remnants that do not encode active RNA and are not involved in post-transcriptional regulation or cellular signaling. The prevalence of multiple U6 snRNA pseudogenes in vertebrate genomes indicates historical duplication events but not active regulatory or therapeutic roles[3][5]. There is no evidence for disease involvement, direct protein-coding capability, or drug interaction for RNU6-218P.

Mechanism of action

None (pseudogenes like RNU6-218P are not targeted by drugs, do not encode proteins, nor modulate signaling directly)

03

Biological functions

No direct functionSome pseudogenes may act as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) in rare cases; there are no data indicating this for RNU6-218P.

Disease associations

Other (no evident association)
05

Safety considerations

None (not a therapeutic target; no safety signals)
06

Interacting drugs

None (no known drug-gene interactions for snRNA pseudogenes)
