Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 235, pseudogene (RNU6-235P) is a genomic locus classified as a pseudogene derivative of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family[4]. Unlike the functional U6 snRNA, which plays a key role in the spliceosome-catalyzed removal of introns from pre-messenger RNA in eukaryotic cells[2][3], the pseudogene variant RNU6-235P does not encode a functional RNA molecule and has no direct biological activity or established disease relevance. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-235P are generally considered genomic "fossils" that arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and commonly lack expression or biological function[4][3]. Functional U6 snRNA is central to RNA splicing but pseudogene copies like RNU6-235P are usually annotated for reference and do not serve as drug targets, biomarkers, or have safety concerns associated with modulation[4][3].
