Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 283, pseudogene (RNU6-283P) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. U6 small nuclear RNAs are highly conserved components of the spliceosome, playing a key role in intron removal during pre-mRNA splicing. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-283P does not produce a functional RNA or protein product and has no established biological or clinical role. Its existence reflects genomic duplication events; many U6 snRNA pseudogenes are present in vertebrate genomes and are considered non-functional. This molecule is not a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target. Its only active function is as a reference for genomic annotation or evolutionary study. Multiple alternative names exist due to annotation differences across databases. Pseudogenes like RNU6-283P are not used as biomarkers, nor do they interact with drugs or have known disease associations.

Mechanism of action

None

03

Biological functions

None (as a pseudogene; canonical U6 snRNA is involved in pre-mRNA splicing, but pseudogenes lack this function)
04

Disease associations

None specific (no known disease association as a pseudogene; functional U6 snRNA is essential for splicing and cell viability)
