Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 315, pseudogene (RNU6-315P)

Target
RNU6-315P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, small nuclear RNA pseudogene
01

Overview

RNU6-315P is a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family. Unlike functional U6 snRNA, which is a critical component of the spliceosome and involved in pre-mRNA splicing, RNU6-315P does not code for a functional RNA and does not participate in cellular processes such as splicing. U6 snRNA pseudogenes are believed to arise through retrotransposition events and are common in vertebrate genomes, serving as evolutionary markers rather than active molecular agents. There is no evidence that RNU6-315P is used as a therapeutic target or biomarker, nor is it associated with drug interactions, safety concerns, or relevant disease biology. The presence of the "pseudogene" designation means it carries sequence similarity to the functional gene but lacks functional activity and is not an actionable molecular target.
