RNA, U6 small nuclear 318, pseudogene (RNU6-318P) is a non-functional genomic locus classified as a pseudogene, structurally resembling the highly conserved U6 small nuclear RNA gene, which plays a central role in pre-mRNA splicing in the spliceosome. RNU6-318P does not encode a biologically active RNA or protein and does not participate in canonical spliceosomal functions; instead, it represents a duplicated or variant copy within the genome that has lost its ability to produce functional U6 snRNA. There is no evidence supporting disease association, biological activity, or utility as a therapeutic or diagnostic target for this molecule. Other pseudogene loci of U6 snRNA may exist, but none are considered druggable targets or have clinical relevance.
