Overview

RNU6-330P encodes a pseudogene that is homologous to the functional U6 snRNA, a small nuclear RNA component essential for pre-mRNA splicing in the spliceosome[1][3][9]. As a pseudogene, RNU6-330P is not believed to produce a functional RNA product. U6 snRNA pseudogenes generally arise via retrotransposition (processed pseudogenes) or gene duplication (unprocessed pseudogenes)[2][4]. While most pseudogenes, including RNU6-330P, are not transcribed or functional, some may participate in gene regulation through RNA interference pathways or by acting as decoys for regulatory molecules in specific contexts, but there is no evidence for such a role for RNU6-330P itself[2][4][5]. This gene is not considered a therapeutic or pharmacological target. Like other non-coding RNA pseudogenes, its principal relevance in research is as a genomic relic, though in rare cases some pseudogenes have been co-opted for regulatory functions or can be transcribed as non-coding RNAs[2][4][5]. There are no drugs, mechanisms of action, biomarkers, or safety concerns directly associated with RNU6-330P.
