Overview

RNU6-383P is a human pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[2]. U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, playing a critical role in nuclear pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3]. However, pseudogenes such as RNU6-383P typically do not encode functional RNA molecules or proteins due to accumulated mutations or lack of functional promoters, and thus are considered non-functional genomic elements[4]. Some pseudogene-derived transcripts can act as long non-coding RNAs with regulatory functions, but there is currently no evidence that RNU6-383P produces a functional transcript or has a direct biological or disease relevance[2][4][6]. It is not considered a therapeutic target.\n\nKey context:\n- RNU6-383P is not a protein, receptor, enzyme, or other classical druggable target.\n- Pseudogenes rarely encode active products, although transcribed pseudogenes in other gene families can sometimes modulate gene expression as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or miRNA sponges[4][6]. There is no evidence for this for RNU6-383P at present.\n- The entry is not misspelled nor incorrect, but as a pseudogene, it falls outside categories of canonical therapeutic targets.\n\nIf a more structured entry or evidence of function is needed, additional up-to-date transcriptomic or functional studies specific to RNU6-383P would be required.
