RNU6-400P is a processed pseudogene derived from U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), one of many U6 snRNA-related pseudogenes present in the human genome[1][2]. U6 snRNA is a critical RNA component of the spliceosome, responsible for excision of introns from pre-mRNA in eukaryotic nuclei[7]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-400P is an inactive genomic copy formed by retrotransposition mechanisms, specifically LINE-1 (L1) retrotransposition, and does not produce a functional RNA or protein product[2][5]. RNU6 pseudogenes, such as RNU6-400P, serve primarily as markers of retrotransposition dynamics in mammalian genomes[2]. While they can be used in research to investigate the evolution and activity of transposable elements, they have no direct role in cellular functions, disease, or therapeutic targeting[1][2]. There is no evidence of gene expression, protein product, or involvement in regulatory networks for RNU6-400P. These pseudogenes are essentially fossil relics of past molecular events and not considered functional biomolecules in contemporary biological processes[2].
