Pseudogenes are typically copies or variants of functional genes that have lost the ability to encode a functional product, often due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements[4]. While U6 snRNA plays a central role in the spliceosome, RNU6-421P does not encode a functional RNA or protein and is not part of the spliceosomal machinery[2][3]. The biological relevance of most U6 snRNA pseudogenes is uncertain; however, some pseudogenes can act as regulatory RNAs in specific contexts by modulating gene expression, though this has not been specifically described for RNU6-421P[4]. RNU6-421P is not a druggable or therapeutic target, nor does it serve as a known biomarker or interaction partner for drugs.
