RNA, U6 small nuclear 442, pseudogene (RNU6-442P), is a member of the U6 snRNA pseudogene family. U6 snRNAs are essential non-coding RNAs that form the catalytic core of the spliceosome complex and mediate the excision of introns from pre-mRNA[1][3]. However, RNU6-442P represents an inactive, nonfunctional copy of a U6 snRNA gene marked by accumulated mutations that prevent normal transcription or protein coding capability[2][5]. Unlike canonical U6 snRNAs, which are highly conserved and play a direct role in mRNA splicing in the nucleus, the RNU6-442P pseudogene has no documented biological function or disease association and is typically ignored in therapeutic contexts[5]. While some pseudogenes can acquire regulatory functions as non-coding RNAs, there is currently no evidence or documentation of any such function for RNU6-442P[2].
