RNA, U6 small nuclear 444, pseudogene (RNU6-444P)

Target
RNU6-444P
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene, Noncoding RNA-derived pseudogene
01

Overview

RNU6-444P is a *small nuclear RNA pseudogene* found in the human genome[2][4][5]. It is derived from U6 snRNA, which is a core component of the spliceosomal RNA machinery required for mRNA splicing[1][3]. However, RNU6-444P itself is classified as a *processed pseudogene*—it is a noncoding, nonfunctional relic in the genome resulting from L1-mediated retrotransposition, and does not produce any functional RNA or protein[5]. Functional U6 snRNA participates in spliceosome assembly and catalysis, but pseudogene copies like RNU6-444P do not contribute to the splicing process or other biological functions[1][3][5]. There are no known associations between RNU6-444P and human diseases, drug interactions, or use as a biomarker. Thus, for research or clinical targeting purposes, RNU6-444P should *not* be considered a valid molecular target.

Biological functions

Other (pseudogenes like RNU6-444P do not have a direct biological function; functional U6 snRNA is involved in pre-mRNA splicing, but RNU6-444P is a nonfunctional genomic copy)
03

Disease associations

Other (not known to play any disease-related role; no pathological association established for this pseudogene)
