Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 473, pseudogene (RNU6-473P) is a **pseudogene** in the human genome that represents a non-functional homolog of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene.[2][4][5] U6 snRNA is an essential and highly conserved component of the spliceosome, which catalyzes pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic nuclei[1][3], but pseudogenes like RNU6-473P typically do not produce functional RNA or protein products due to disabling mutations.[2] Pseudogenes can sometimes regulate gene expression via RNA-mediated or epigenetic mechanisms[2], but there is no reported evidence that RNU6-473P has a defined biological or pathological function. RNU6-473P is not a therapeutic target, does not interact with any drugs, and is not used as a biomarker. Its classification as a pseudogene means it should not be confused with the canonical U6 snRNA, which has a critical role in mRNA splicing.[2][4][5]
