RNA, U6 small nuclear 520, pseudogene (RNU6-520P) is a *pseudogene* copy of the highly conserved U6 small nuclear RNA gene, itself a key component of the spliceosome machinery in eukaryotic cells[2][3]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-520P arise through gene duplication or retrotransposition but have lost their protein-coding ability or regulatory function. While the functional U6 snRNA is essential for pre-mRNA splicing, most U6 pseudogenes—including RNU6-520P—are not thought to produce functional RNAs or proteins and have no known physiological or therapeutic role[2][3][4][6]. Pseudogenes are common in genomes; some rare cases exhibit regulatory RNA function or are co-opted in gene regulation, but there is no evidence that RNU6-520P has such activity in human biology[2][4][6].
