Pseudogenes like RNU6-567P typically arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and contain sequence similarity to their "parental" RNA genes but lack coding or regulatory capacity for functional RNA or protein molecules. Unlike canonical U6 snRNA genes, RNU6-567P does not produce a functional small nuclear RNA and is not known to have biological activity or disease association. There are no clinical, molecular, or pharmacological interventions or implications described for RNU6-567P. Genome-wide datasets sometimes list such pseudogenes in association studies, but this refers only to their chromosomal localization rather than any mechanism or function[5][8][9].
