RNA, U6 small nuclear 608, pseudogene (RNU6-608P) is a pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family, specifically a processed non-coding RNA gene related to U6 snRNA, which is a critical RNA component of the spliceosome in eukaryotic cells[2][3][5]. Pseudogenes are nonfunctional sequences similar to known genes; they generally do not produce functional RNAs or proteins and lack known biological activity. The U6 snRNA gene and its copies, including multiple pseudogenes, are well conserved and numerous in the human genome, reflecting the evolutionary importance of the U6 snRNA sequence for pre-mRNA splicing, but the pseudogene variants such as RNU6-608P are not known to serve as receptors, enzymes, or drug targets[2][3][5].
