RNA, U6 small nuclear 625, pseudogene (RNU6-625P) is a genomic DNA sequence in humans that closely resembles the functional U6 small nuclear RNA gene, but due to mutations or other molecular changes, it is not transcribed into a functional RNA. The U6 snRNA gene encodes a small nuclear RNA essential for pre-mRNA splicing in the spliceosome[1][3]; the RNU6-625P pseudogene, by contrast, has lost this function and does not contribute to splicing or protein coding. The presence of many U6 pseudogenes in vertebrate genomes highlights the evolutionary importance and high conservation of the U6 snRNA sequence, but pseudogenes themselves are typically inactive genetic elements[1][5][2].
