Overview

RNU6-630P, or RNA, U6 small nuclear 630, pseudogene, is a human genome locus classified as a pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family[2]. The parent molecule, U6 snRNA, is an integral component of the spliceosome complex, playing an essential role in precursor mRNA splicing by facilitating intron excision within the nucleus[3][5]. U6 snRNA itself is highly conserved and crucial to the splicing process, but pseudogenes like RNU6-630P result from retrotransposition events or genomic duplications and do not produce functional RNA[7][1]. While these pseudogenes are no longer functional, their presence in the genome can reflect the activity of retrotransposition mechanisms—especially those mediated by LINE-1 elements—or act as evolutionary markers. RNU6-630P is not a protein, receptor, enzyme, or factor involved in cell signaling, and it does not have therapeutic relevance as a direct drug target[2][7].

Biological functions

Serves as a genomic marker of retrotransposition activity; does not encode functional RNA
03

Disease associations

Not implicated as a direct participant in disease; may be used as a marker in studies of genome evolution or retrotransposition
04

Biomarkers

May serve as a biomarker for retrotransposition dynamics in genomic studies, but not for clinical patient selection or drug monitoring
