Overview

RNU6-639P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 639, pseudogene) is classified as a pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family[4][7]. Pseudogenes are non-functional sequences in the genome that resemble functional genes but generally do not produce functional proteins or serve significant biological roles. U6 snRNAs themselves are critical structural components of the spliceosome, the ribonucleoprotein complex responsible for the removal of introns from pre-mRNA during pre-mRNA splicing[1][3][5]. However, RNU6-639P is a presumed inactive, non-protein-coding remnant, and there is no evidence it acts as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or bears direct functional relevance in biological processes or disease[4][7]. Pseudogenes from this family are common in the human genome and do not have known drug interactions, mechanisms of action, or use as biomarkers.
