Overview

**RNA, U6 small nuclear 662, pseudogene (RNU6-662P)** is a human pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. Pseudogenes are non-functional sequences in the genome that have high sequence similarity to genuine (parental) genes but generally do not encode functional proteins or actively participate in canonical biological pathways. The original functional U6 small nuclear RNA (U6 snRNA) is an essential component of the spliceosome, required for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3]. However, pseudogenes like RNU6-662P do not participate in this process and are generally considered transcriptionally inactive or may occasionally have regulatory roles at the RNA level, such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs or microRNA sponges in rare instances, but this is not established for RNU6-662P[2]. There is no evidence that RNU6-662P is a therapeutic target, biomarker, or related to any disease role. Thus, it should not be considered an actionable molecular target.
