Overview

RNU6-664P, also known as “RNA, U6 small nuclear 664, pseudogene,” is a pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family. U6 snRNAs are highly conserved, non-coding RNAs involved in the splicing of pre-mRNA as essential components of the spliceosome. Pseudogenes like RNU6-664P may arise via genomic duplication or retrotransposition, but they typically lack a functional role and are not expressed as active RNAs or proteins. These pseudogenes are not considered protein targets, enzymes, receptors, or therapeutic agents. "FZD5" is the abbreviation for “Frizzled class receptor 5,” an unrelated G protein-coupled receptor involved in Wnt signaling pathways. There is no molecular or functional relationship between FZD5 and RNU6-664P—this alias appears to be an error. U6 small nuclear RNA (U6 snRNA) is a functional RNA component of the spliceosome. However, RNU6-664P is a pseudogene and does not code for a functional RNA. The main issues are that RNU6-664P is a pseudogene, not an active therapeutic target; the alias “FZD5” is misapplied; and there are no known drugs, mechanisms of action, or biomarker roles for this pseudogene.

Biological functions

None (No known biological function; pseudogenes are generally non-functional sequence remnants)

Disease associations

Other (Pseudogenes do not have direct roles in disease; occasionally, pseudogenes may regulate expression of genes, but there is no evidence for RNU6-664P)
