RNA, U6 small nuclear 684, pseudogene (RNU6-684P) is classified as a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family, found on human chromosome 14. U6 snRNA is a critical component of the spliceosome, a ribonucleoprotein complex responsible for the excision of introns from pre-mRNA during RNA splicing. However, RNU6-684P does not encode a functional RNA or protein, nor does it have known biological activity, therapeutic relevance, or disease association—it is a non-coding, nonfunctional genetic element with sequence homology to U6 snRNA but lacking functional features due to mutations and/or genomic rearrangement. As a pseudogene, RNU6-684P is not considered a therapeutic target, and there are no known drugs, biomarkers, mechanisms, or safety concerns associated with it. Its gene record serves as part of genomic annotation rather than functional biology.
