Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 695, pseudogene (RNU6-695P)

Target
RNU6-695P
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

RNU6-695P is a processed pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA family in Homo sapiens. While U6 small nuclear RNA itself plays a critical role in pre-mRNA splicing as part of the spliceosome complex, RNU6-695P does not encode a functional RNA and is considered a genomic relic derived from retrotransposition or duplication events. Unlike its parent gene, RNU6-695P is not known to be translated into protein, nor does it have recognized biological activity or disease association. Pseudogenes can occasionally act as regulatory decoys or influence gene expression epigenetically, but specific evidence for any such role in RNU6-695P is lacking[1][2].

02

Biological functions

May act as a molecular decoy for microRNAs or RNA-binding proteins as some pseudogenes can.Might be transcribed and interact with RNA-related epigenetic regulatory mechanisms. No evidence for direct catalytic, signaling, or protein-binding activity.
03

Disease associations

There is no specific disease association for RNU6-695P itself. Some pseudogenes have been implicated in cancer and epigenetic regulation, but direct links for RNU6-695P are lacking.Pseudogenes, in general, may act as microRNA decoys and influence expression of related genes in disease contexts.
