RNA, U6 small nuclear 815, pseudogene (RNU6-815P) is a non-functional, genomically-encoded sequence that represents a defunct copy of the canonical U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene. The true U6 snRNA encodes a small nuclear RNA essential in the spliceosome, responsible for intron excision from precursor mRNAs—a highly conserved and universally critical biological process in eukaryotes[1][3]. However, RNU6-815P, as a pseudogene, is not transcribed into a functional RNA, does not participate in splicing, and does not encode any proteins. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-815P arise via retrotransposition events and serve as markers of genomic evolutionary mechanisms, but do not possess biological or therapeutic relevance[5][2].
