Unlike functional U6 snRNA, RNU6-820P does not encode a functional RNA product, as it lacks promoter activity and other sequences necessary for transcription and function[2]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-820P are generally considered non-functional genomic remnants, though research into some pseudogenes suggests potential roles such as regulatory functions in rare cases[4]. There is no evidence that RNU6-820P acts as a therapeutic target, enzyme, receptor, or biomarker, nor is there evidence of interacting drugs or clinical significance in disease. The canonical U6 snRNA has critical structural and catalytic roles in pre-mRNA splicing, but RNU6-820P is simply a non-functional copy of this molecule[2][5][1].
