Target
RNU6-835P
Molecular classification
Other, processed pseudogene, non-coding RNA, small nuclear RNA-derived pseudogene
01

Overview

RNU6-835P is a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene (U6 snRNA). U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, the molecular complex responsible for excising introns from pre-mRNA during RNA splicing in eukaryotes. However, RNU6-835P does not encode a functional snRNA or protein, and is categorized as a pseudogene—a non-functional genomic sequence that resembles a functional gene but is generally considered biologically inactive. While some pseudogenes can act as regulatory RNAs (e.g., microRNA sponges or competing endogenous RNAs), there is no evidence that RNU6-835P participates in such functions. Its sequence is present in the human genome likely as a result of evolutionary gene duplication or retrotransposition, and it has no known roles in normal biological processes or disease. As such, it is not considered a therapeutic target and has no associated drugs, mechanisms of action, or biomarker utility.

Other names
RNU6-835PRNA, U6 Small Nuclear 835, Pseudogene
02

Mechanism of action

None; not a known drug target or biomarker.

03

Biological functions

None established for this specific pseudogene; parental gene (U6 snRNA) functions in pre-mRNA splicing
04

Disease associations

None known for RNU6-835P itself. However, some pseudogenes are emerging as regulatory RNAs (competing endogenous RNAs, miRNA decoys), but there is no evidence that RNU6-835P plays such a role
05

Safety considerations

None; as a pseudogene, not a protein, and not a target for intervention, there are no safety/tolerability issues known or anticipated.
