RNA, U6 small nuclear 862, pseudogene (RNU6-862P) is a human pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. U6 snRNAs are essential non-coding RNAs involved in the spliceosome, where they help catalyze pre-mRNA splicing by forming intricate RNA-RNA interactions within the spliceosomal complex[1][3]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-862P is a genomic sequence that closely resembles the functional U6 snRNA genes but is not itself transcribed into a functional small nuclear RNA and does not participate in mRNA splicing. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-862P can sometimes act as regulators of their parental gene through processes including competing endogenous RNA interactions or acting as miRNA decoys, but specific functional or disease roles for this pseudogene have not been established[2][4][5]. There is no evidence that RNU6-862P is considered a therapeutic target or is directly involved in disease, drug interactions, or biomarker utility.
