U6 snRNA itself is an essential part of the spliceosome, catalyzing intron excision from pre-mRNA in eukaryotic nuclei[3][5]. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-875P, common in the human genome, represent defective copies that are transcriptionally inactive and lack the biological functions of their parent genes[1]. Although some pseudogenes may act as regulatory RNA molecules in certain contexts, there is no evidence that RNU6-875P has such a role.
