RNA, U6 small nuclear 912, pseudogene (RNU6-912P) is a genomic DNA sequence similar to the functional RNA, U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), but it is a pseudogene and is not known to produce a functional RNA product. The U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved non-coding RNA component of the spliceosome, essential for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells[1][3]. Many pseudogenes exist in the genome that resemble U6 snRNA, but these usually represent non-functional genomic remnants and do not contribute to catalytic or regulatory activity in spliceosomal function[1][3]. While some pseudogenes can give rise to small RNAs and may in rare instances affect gene expression as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or through production of siRNAs[4], there is no evidence for direct functional or disease-related relevance of RNU6-912P.
