Overview

**RNA, U6 small nuclear 942, pseudogene (RNU6-942P)** is a transcribed but non-functional genomic sequence classified as a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene. The canonical, functional U6 snRNA is a highly conserved component of the spliceosome complex, crucial for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[3][1]. In the human genome, numerous copies of U6 or U6-derived pseudogenes exist, which generally do not code for functional snRNAs[3]. RNU6-942P is one such pseudogene; it is non-coding and not known to participate in canonical spliceosomal activity or to have direct biological, disease, or drug interaction roles[5][6]. There is no known evidence for it being a therapeutic target, biomarker, or mediator of pharmacological effect. Some pseudogenes might play regulatory roles (for instance as competitive endogenous RNAs), but for RNU6-942P there is currently no specific functional, disease, or mechanistic information[8].
