Overview

RNU6ATAC5P represents a pseudogene of the U6atac small nuclear RNA gene family. U6atac snRNA is a noncoding RNA involved in the minor spliceosome, playing a critical role in the splicing of U12-type introns in eukaryotes[3][4]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6ATAC5P does not produce a functional RNA product and does not participate in this biological process. Pseudogenes are generally considered nonfunctional genomic elements that once resembled active genes but have lost coding potential through mutation or deletion. There is no evidence that RNU6ATAC5P serves as a therapeutic target, nor is it implicated in disease, drug interaction, or biomarker utility. Its status as a pseudogene makes it biologically inert under normal conditions. The canonical, functional gene in this family is RNU6ATAC, which encodes U6atac snRNA, a critical component of the minor spliceosome[3][4]. Mutations in functional RNU4ATAC and RNU6ATAC are associated with rare human diseases[2][4], but there are no such associations for RNU6ATAC5P, the pseudogene variant. The term “pseudogene” in the canonical name explicitly denotes a non-functional copy, distinguishing it from gene products or protein-coding genes. This is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or any druggable molecular entity. Summary: RNU6ATAC5P identifies a non-functional, noncoding RNA pseudogene with no known biological, pathological, or therapeutic significance. If you seek actionable or drug-target information, refer instead to functional members of the U6atac snRNA family, such as RNU6ATAC.
