Overview

RNU7-194P, also known as RNA, U7 small nuclear 194 pseudogene, is a human pseudogene related to the functional U7 small nuclear RNA (U7 snRNA)[7]. The U7 snRNA is an RNA molecule that plays a critical role in the 3' end processing of replication-dependent histone pre-mRNAs as part of the U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex[1][4][5]. However, RNU7-194P itself is classified as a pseudogene—an inactive copy of the U7-snRNA gene that has accumulated sequence changes and is not known to produce a functional RNA product. Pseudogenes like RNU7-194P typically do not encode proteins or functional RNAs and lack a direct molecular function[7]. While some pseudogenes may have subtle regulatory or non-coding RNA-related roles (such as microRNA sponging or chromatin structure modulation), there is no evidence supporting such a role for RNU7-194P specifically[6][7]. Therefore, RNU7-194P is not considered a therapeutic target, is not known to participate in biological or disease processes, and has no associated drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns.
