RNA, U7 small nuclear 54 pseudogene (RNU7-54P)

Target
RNU7-54P
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene, Small nuclear RNA (snRNA, pseudogene of the U7 snRNA family)
01

Overview

RNU7-54P is a pseudogene that shares homology with the gene encoding the functional U7 small nuclear RNA (snRNA). While the functional U7 snRNA forms part of the U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex, which is essential for 3' end processing of replication-dependent histone pre-mRNAs in metazoan cells, RNU7-54P itself does not produce a functional RNA or protein product. Consequently, no biological function, disease involvement, or drug interactions are currently attributed to this pseudogene. It is not a therapeutic target and is not involved in known pathophysiological processes. This target is considered incorrect as a therapeutic or functional target due to its explicit annotation as a pseudogene, lacking coding or regulatory functionality. It should not be confused with the functional U7 snRNA, whose correct designations would be "RNA, U7 small nuclear" or "RNU7-1".
