RNA, U7 small nuclear 77 pseudogene (RNU7-77P) is a non-functional genomic sequence in humans that closely resembles the active U7 small nuclear RNA gene but lacks the ability to produce a functional RNA molecule[2][6][7]. All described U7-related human pseudogenes, including RNU7-77P, contain features typical of reverse-transcribed pseudogenes, such as sequence divergence and inability to match the mature functional U7 RNA sequence[6]. Functional U7 snRNA is involved in histone pre-mRNA processing, but RNU7-77P does not participate in this or any other biological process[2][3][8]. This distinguishes it from the operational U7 snRNA, which is active in histone mRNA 3' end processing[3][8]. There are no known drug interactions, disease roles, or biomarker functions associated with RNU7-77P, and it is not used as a therapeutic or diagnostic marker[2][7].
