RNA, variant U1 small nuclear 7 (RNVU1-7), also known by several aliases such as vU1.7 and RNU1-6P, is a member of the variant U1 small nuclear RNAs (vU1 snRNAs), non-coding RNAs transcribed from what were historically considered U1 snRNA pseudogenes[1][2][4]. RNVU1-7 shares high sequence similarity with canonical U1 snRNA and is involved in pre-mRNA 5′ splice site recognition as part of the U1 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex[1][2][4]. Variant U1 snRNAs, including RNVU1-7, are differentially expressed and appear to participate in the regulation of gene expression at the pre-mRNA processing level, including potential roles in alternative splicing or mRNA 3′ end processing[2][4]. However, as a pseudogene-derived non-coding RNA, there is no evidence that RNVU1-7 is a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classic therapeutic target, nor is it a direct target for pharmacological agents[2][4].
