RBMY2YP, or RNA binding motif protein, Y-linked, family 2, member Y pseudogene, is a non-coding segment on the human Y chromosome classified as a pseudogene. Unlike the functional RBMY genes involved in testis-specific RNA binding and spermatogenesis, RBMY2YP is predicted not to produce a functional protein or to play a role in cellular physiology. It shares sequence similarity with its functional family members but has accumulated mutations or deletions rendering it inactive. The presence of RBMY pseudogenes is common in regions of genomic duplication, but no evidence links RBMY2YP to biological function, disease association, or drug interaction[1][3][5][8][9].
