RNA binding motif protein 22 pseudogene 1 (RBM22P1)

Target
RBM22P1
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)
01

Overview

RNA binding motif protein 22 pseudogene 1 (RBM22P1) is a human pseudogene, defined as a non-functional genomic sequence that resembles the protein-coding gene RNA binding motif protein 22 (RBM22) but does not produce a functional protein[1][9]. Pseudogenes like RBM22P1 generally arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events, and while some pseudogenes have regulatory or competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) roles, there is currently no evidence that RBM22P1 has any demonstrated regulatory or pathological function[1][9]. As a non-coding, non-functional gene locus, RBM22P1 is not druggable and has no established role in human disease or pharmacology.

02

Mechanism of action

None known (pseudogenes are not targeted by drugs; no evidence RBM22P1 produces functional RNA or protein.)

03

Biological functions

No direct biological function; noncoding pseudogenes can sometimes act as regulatory long non-coding RNAs, but no documented function specific to RBM22P1
04

Disease associations

No known roles in disease; no documented relevance to cancer, inflammation, or other disease categories as of current knowledge
